Progress on current WIP was moving along at a steady pace. I had hit the 80% mark of the first draft, and I had begun copious notes on changes to be made in the second draft. And then mission parameters changed, and my team was sent to Hawai’i.
This deviation from normal routine has set back progress on current mission. I have adjusted the deadline accordingly and now expect draft one to be finished by 1/15/18.
However, here is a small excerpt from the progress made in December.
Dad stared at me, but this time he didn’t seemed relieved to have found me like he did before. He looked at me the way he had looked at our TV at home when it shorted out and he decided it was cheaper to trash it than try to fix it. “The spell on my door, the one that should have put you in a deep sleep just from touching it, only gave you a small shock.” He seemed to be speaking more to himself than to me, so I didn’t say anything. “Has anyone tried to cast a spell on you that didn’t work?” he asked.
“Actually, the Queen of Zumrad tried to turn me into a bug. A bug, Dad. Can you believe it?”
Dad didn’t seem to be as offended by the idea of me as an insect. “Did it affect you at all, give you wings, a shock, anything?”
I thought for a moment. I didn’t remember feeling even the smallest tingle.
